Even though flowers will never go out of fashion, there are always strong floral trends that crop up time and time again. This year as in previous years the Vintage, Shabby Chic look is very much in.

With the economic downturn, most Brides are having to face the reality that their wedding flower budget is not going to stretch to the ‘Wills & Katherine, Westminster’ look!
With this in mind, Brides are becoming quite savvy with their choice in the overall look of their big day, wheel in, Vintage, Shabby Chic, where anything goes; wheelbarrows full of potted Geraniums; Grandmas old mismatching china Jugs, looking youthful once again with abundant displays of Garden Roses, sweet peas or even better, locally grown Dahlias (not only budget savvy but eco conscious too!); charity shop bought vases and containers filled with loosely tied seasonal arrangements.
There is an abundance of blousy informal flowers that look great in any container. Peonies are a personal favourite of mine, along with Stocks, Delphiniums, Larkspur, Cornflowers, scabious and the gorgeous Nigella (Love in the Mist).
All these beautiful blooms look gorgeous in anything from a crystal vase to a rusty tin pot and teamed with fresh fragrant herbs, they remind us of the best of British gardens in spring and summertime.

Any good Florist will always have an eye out for unusual containers and glassware that can be turned into a floral work of art. Charming vintage bottles or jam jars are an ideal table centre solution for brides on a budget. One thing Florists are particularly good at is helping to create a strong floral theme, which can be as simple as selecting a bold or interesting detail, such as a button or ribbon. Follow this idea through your tables with coordinating napkins and table decorations and let your florist work some magic by incorporating the floral theme into your bridesmaid’s hair, wrist corsages or the grooms buttonhole or bridal bouquets.

So if you are off to a few weddings in 2012 don’t be surprised if they all have a common floral theme, that ‘just picked’ look arranged to give the impression that they have been collected from a neighbouring wild meadow!”
