Real Wedding - Gemma and James

James and I met through a mutual friend whilst out on the Barbican in Plymouth, although we had met a few years previously, and in fact we'd sat opposite each other at a birthday meal, but James doesn't remember it!
We went on our first holiday together only four months later to New York. We both had an amazing time and really fell in love with the city and went back annually. On our third trip on the first night we went to our favourite restaurant on Fifth Avenue. After the meal James got down on one knee and proposed!

James was well aware that I'm a fussy customer so he hadn't risked choosing the ring himself to propose with, but had already arranged an appointment at Tiffany's the following day.

The next two days were consumed with shopping for rings, and eventually we went back to Tiffany's and got the first ring we saw...well with a bigger diamond!

As soon as we got back we began looking for venues, and after a couple of months of viewing venues we visited Boconnoc Estate and immediately fell in love with the setting. My dad had also grown up on the local farm. Venue sorted!
We decided on a summer wedding and chose the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend, which was also the day after James's birthday. That gave us 18 months to plan the wedding, hen party and the stag do!
Us girls had a fabulous weekend in Milan and the boys had a week in Las Vegas.

The wedding day itself was luckily a lovely sunny day!

I had my hair done by Lucy Shaw from Carl Prescott - Hair Design in Looe (Lucy was also a bridesmaid), my make up was done by Emma Crosley from Blush in Looe, my shoes where from Dune, my dress was the Haiti design by Pronovias but supplied by Colins Bridal in Callington and my veil was by Pronovias but supplied by Harrods.
The boys wore suits from Burton and the girls wore dresses that were made by a lady in Callington and their shoes were from Debut supplied by Debenhams.
The flowers were supplied by St Mellion Flowers in Saltash. They made the bouquets and pin holes and I did the table flowers the day before the wedding.
Our theme was English Country Garden with dusky pink roses and white butterflies as decorations for the marquee and garden. There was also a hint of New York with the table names of special places we have visited in New York.
The church service took place at Morval Church (my local church), near Looe and James's sister did an amazing reading extracted from 'Sex and the City'. The reception was held on the lawns on Boconnoc Estate.

James works for Audi so all of the wedding cars were supplied by Audi.
The marquee was supplied by Southwest Marquee Hire and the catering was supplied by The Hayloft in Menheniot, near Liskeard. Our cake was made as a gift by a family friend.

We had 125 guests in the day and around 350 guests in the evening.

During the day the guests were able to play for a hole in one prize as we had a golf hole with a heart shaped green especially cut in an adjacent field.

Our first dance was to Florence and the Machine's 'You've got the love'.

At the end of the evening we celebrated with a surprise firework display supplied by Trelawney Fireworks.

All of our memories were captured by Rob Frost Photography, from Liskeard.
