Weddings in Truro

Truro is Cornwall's only city and the administrative centre of the county. Truro has traditionally been a crucial trade centre, reliant on its port and also played a prominent role in the mining industry. The city is well known for its cathedral, completed in 1910, which has become its most recognisable landmark. Designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson, it has a 249 foot spire which rises high above the city.

Visitors to Truro can also sample its wide variety of shops and markets or visit the Royal Cornwall Museum. The museum in the oldest and best in Cornwall for exhibitions on Cornish history and features a wide variety of collections of archaeology, geology and art. Those who prefer the great outdoors will not be disappointed either as Truro is also famous for its parks and open spaces, in particular Victoria Gardens, Boscawen Park and Daubuz Moors.

Truro can make a great wedding location whatever you have in mind. There are wedding venues to suit every size of celebration whether you're planning an intimate day for close friends and family or a huge social occasion with hundreds of friends to help you celebrate in style.

It's often a good idea to focus first on the key things you know are part of all the best wedding receptions. Perhaps you've dreamt of a church full of fresh flowers since you were a little girl, or maybe you've decided that civil ceremonies are the way to go. If so, then Truro has a wide selection of wedding venues that are able to cater for civil ceremonies.

If the options seem overwhelming after your first trip to look at potential wedding venues, a wedding planner could help things run smoothly. After an initial chat to find out exactly what you want from your day and your taste in everything from food to flowers to entertainment, they will work hard at removing the stress, leaving you to relax in the run up to the big day. A planner will have a great deal of experience in hosting wedding receptions and can sometimes come up with something new and unique you may not have thought of yourself.

Regardless of whether you plan the day yourself, or employ someone to do it for you, don't forget to think about the little touches that will make your celebration stand out. Wedding receptions can benefit from entertainment in every shape and form, whether it's a soloist singing during the ceremony or something more upbeat after the meal. If you want something a little bit different, how about hiring table magicians to delight your guests, or even a big brass band to really shake things up. If you're worried about how it will all run together on the day, then invest in a master of ceremonies to look after the running order.

Your wedding in Truro will hopefully be the start of a wonderful life together so, above all, remember to relax and enjoy the day, you'll remember it forever.
